I have a wonderful passion for food, and I love to bring this energy to as many people as possible. Through media I have been able to marry my love of food and cooking with my love and experience with acting to create what I like to call “Food Entertainment”. I have created two television series which aired on RogersTV, Durham Region: “Mission Meal”, and “Diggin’ Durham”. Also, I was chef on “Talk With Your Mouth Full”, also on RogersTV. I am currently the host of “daytime” in Durham Region, RogersTV.
I am a regular guest chef on several television shows, including “Breakfast Television” (CityTV), “Morning Live” (CHCH), “Summer’s Best” (Food Network), and was a Food Expert for the 2008/2009 season of “Stephen & Chris” (CBC).
I regularly attend numerous media events throughout the year as a local celebrity chef and media personality.
I have been in the catering business for many years. I cater events of varying sizes, budgets, and styles, from small, intimate house parties to large corporate events, team building, and weddings.
From hors d’oeuvres to multiple course meals – I do it all. For a quote, please contact me.
My specialties are long, sit-down multiple course dinners in small to medium intimate settings.
I am in demand to do private dinners/cooking classes where I treat your guests to a cooking lesson (hands-on or watching only) and a full dinner. This is extremely popular and a definite crowd pleaser!
My philosophy is that food should be freshly made and meals should be long and relaxing “events” with plenty of time to enjoy food, wine, friends and family.
I am a professional emcee with many years training (I’ve worked all over the globe) in public speaking and hosting coupled by an extensive background in acting.
I have a busy emceeing schedule every year, including annually hosting the Iron Chef Challenge at Harbourfront (for the past 8 years), emceeing international trade shows and a variety of events throughout Durham Region and the GTA.
Having been involved in the Culinary Arts industry for so many years and the fact that I have such a unique background, with experience in so many different avenues of the world of food, I am in demand as a consultant with various food programming projects.
Recently I coordinated the catering and oversaw the food planning for the Durham Region Day presentation at Queen’s Park.
I am also currently consulting with the City of Toronto on planning food events throughout the city and for “Winterlicious”.
I strongly support food education on all levels. I teach hundreds of cooking classes each year through Upstairs at Loblaws, Longo’s, and LCBO cooking schools. I work in elementary, intermediate, and secondary schools teaching classes on cooking and I serve on advisory councils for college food programs.
I am a huge supporter of my local farms and feel very lucky to be in such close proximity to wonderful agriculture. It is a great benefit to our society and to the food we eat to consume food that is grown locally. Each region in Canada has unique farming industry and we as consumers (and eaters!) need to take advantage of this rich resource. I always use my local farms to supply my own culinary endeavours and speak out about this as often as I can.
